How They Could Benefit You
For those who are eager to ditch their L plates and get out there on the open road as a fully-fledged driver, an intensive driving course can seem like a great idea. Here at Nayland Driving School, we are asked by many potential learners, ‘Are intensive driving lessons worth it?’ Well, that’s an easy one to answer! We believe they can be a fantastic route to success for the right learner.
Let’s explore what intensive driving lessons are and why so many learner drivers choose them over traditional driving lessons.
What is Intensive Driving Lessons?
An intensive driving course condenses the learning process down into a much shorter period, with your lessons taking place over a few days rather than several months. You may have also seen this type of learning called a crash course – although that isn’t meant literally!
You’re not just going to be taking your standard hour-long lesson each day. When you choose us, you will be taking part in 5-hour driving days, allowing you to really get comfortable behind the wheel.
The process begins with a 2-hour assessment. This helps your instructor estimate how many hours you’ll likely need to pass your test. This can vary from learner to learner, and this in-depth assessment will allow your instructor to plan a course that gives you the best possible chances of passing.
Are Intensive Driving Lessons Good for Everyone?
Just like any form of learning, an intensive course of driving lessons will suit some people more than others. They are ideal if you:
- Need to pass quickly
- Prefer to learn in a more immersive way
- Are returning after a break or failed test, so have some previous experience
- Have limited availability
Intensive driving lessons can also benefit those who tend to dwell on errors they make and let those get in the way of their progress. Stress and anxiety can really hold some people back, but when you are learning so intensively, you don’t really have time to let those worries take hold!
The Benefits of Intensive Driving Lessons
Here are some of the biggest advantages of taking an intensive driving course:
Faster Progress
Because you’re driving for longer periods each day, you’ll improve more quickly. You won’t forget what you learnt the week before, as each session builds directly on the last one.
Increased Confidence
Many learners find they gain confidence more quickly in an intensive setting. Getting so much continuous practice can reduce nerves and make you feel more comfortable behind the wheel.
Cost-Effective
Although the upfront cost is higher than booking a block of driving lessons, intensive courses can actually save you money in the long run, as you may require fewer hours overall.
What to Consider Before Booking
Have you passed your theory test? If not, we recommend doing this first, as you can’t book your practical test without it. You also need to be sure that you can commit the time and energy needed for the course, as it will require your total dedication and attention for a number of days with no breaks in between.
