How long will it take for me to learn to drive?
This really depends on the individual, as well as how often you have driving lessons and your own determination. The DVSA says it takes an average of 45 hours of lessons to reach test level, and 22 hours of practising. How much do driving lessons cost?
If you’re a beginner, we offer your first two hours for £25, from then on it is £25 for a manual and £27 for an automatic one-hour lesson. We recommend you book a two-hour lesson to get the most out of your lesson, this is £50 for a manual car and £54 for an automatic. If you book in a 10-hour block, you can benefit from a saving of £15.
Should I learn automatic or manual?
This really depends on you, if you learn manual you will be able to drive both manual and automatic cars, but if you learn automatic then you will only be permitted to drive an automatic car. However, some people do find gears difficult and prefer to drive an automatic – it really is up to the individual! Automatic cars are becoming increasingly popular in the UK and it is becoming a choice for more learners. Just be aware, you will still need an understanding of a manual car for your theory test!
