The Role of Technology in Modern Driving Lessons

Understanding These Changes

Learning to drive is always changing and evolving, and right now, technology is driving that change. While we aren’t quite at the stage where we can leave it all to self-driving cars, there are many types of technology that can make learning to drive that much easier. Here at Nayland Driving School, we are all about embracing change and letting our learners know about the latest tools that can help them. Here is everything you need to know.

Apps

There are many apps that can help with your driving lessons. Did you know that the DVSA has an official theory test revision app? Gone are the days when you would have to buy a physical copy of the Highway Code to pore over. Now it is all there at your fingertips. You can practice your theory and hazard perception tests whenever you like, helping you to prepare for the big day. The AA app is another great tool for your theory test revision and is available at a similar price.

The Young Driver app has been developed by learners and drivers and contains everything from mini quizzes to advice on insurance when buying your first car.

Simulators

This is a development that has everyone in the industry feeling very excited. Tools like VR headsets have made it possible to totally immerse yourself in a virtual environment, and this means that driving simulators are more accessible than they have ever been. It’s a great way for you to safely practise your skills and make mistakes without putting anyone else in danger. It can also be used to help anxious drivers to get used to the sights and sounds that come with being in a car, helping them to grow more confident behind the wheel.

Digital resources

There are so many digital resources out there, and they can help us just as much as you! AI can be used to analyse a learner driver’s learning patterns and weaknesses and come up with tailored lesson plans that will address those areas of concern. Add to this tried and tested resources such as YouTube channels directed at learner drivers and support groups on social media, and it becomes clear just how much the Internet has to offer.

It’s not all about technology!

While all of the above can make it much easier to learn how to drive, nothing can replace getting out there in the car with an experienced instructor. We’re firm believers in tech being something that can accentuate your learning experience, and paired with our expertise, it really can work wonders. All of our instructors take the time to get to know their learners and tailor their lessons to suit them, and when to use technology or scale it back.

We’re here to help

Whether you are a bit of a technophobe or love to use apps and other digital tools, we are here to talk you through it all. Remember: your lessons are where you are going to build skill and confidence, and we’ll make sure that you do that.

Testimonials

I was taught by Geoff for about 2 months and I went to my test and passed the first time with this company and I would highly recommend Geoff and the company ad he teaches really well, he ensures that you end up being a driver and not a learner and i felt that is a really respectable quality when it comes to a teacher. I could not say any bad experience and was extremely happy

I passed my test first time, I didn’t need to use any other instructor as Michael gave me all the advice I needed, down to earth, practical and easy to understand. While learning to drive can be stressful, Micheal made it so easy for me. I enjoyed learning and looked forward to the lessons as they were really enjoyable, if you want to learn to drive with someone that will make it enjoyable and practical Micheal is the guy! guy.

Before having Michael as a driving instructor I was with someone else! I was given his number through a recommendation, and his lessons gave me the confidence to pass my test! Michael has great prices and deals, to suit anyone! I have now been driving a year, and I have recommended many people to go with him and they have gone on to pass very fast! 🙂
