Booking a practical driving test is something that all learner drivers need to do to obtain their licence. What though, does the process involve? Here at Nayland Driving School, we will answer all of your questions, from how to book a driving test to what you can expect to pay. It’s a simple enough process, but it never hurts to be prepared!
Booking your test
If you’ve been googling ‘how to book a driving test practical’ or similar, you have come to the right place. When it comes to how to book a driving test, UK learner drivers need to head to the official government website. Make sure that you use this site to book, as doing so elsewhere could mean that you lose money on a booking that doesn’t actually exist.
When you book your driving test, you will need to have the following to hand:
• UK driving licence number
• credit or debit card
• driving instructor’s personal reference number, so you can check their availability
Once you have booked your test, you will be able to come back and check if tests on any earlier dates have become available. You can also change the date of your test if you need to.
How much is it?
How much is it to book a practical driving test? For a standard test in a car, the charge is £62 for a test that takes place during the week. If you wish to take your test at the weekend, in the evening, or during a bank holiday, you will have to pay £75. Not all test centres offer tests at these times, and all available evening and weekend appointments will be shown when you try to book.
We’re here to help
If you are confused about booking your driving test, your instructor is here to help. They have guided so many learner drivers to this point, and will be able to answer any questions that you have about the process. They’ll also give their honest opinion on if you are ready to take your test, and what skills you should brush up on beforehand.
