Is There Progression Involved in a Driving Instructor Career?

Your Future After Completing Your Training

Working as a driving instructor leads to many paths that offer amazing professional growth and career development.

As a leading provider of driving instructor training in Essex, we know how much the career has to offer. Here’s what you can expect:

Training as a driving instructor

It is easy to see why becoming a driving instructor is growing in popularity. It’s a job that offers a huge amount of freedom and flexibility, allowing them to work when they want for however long they want. It is also significantly more rewarding than a standard 9 to 5 job and gives you the opportunity to truly change people’s lives by teaching them a new skill. It can also be very lucrative – as plenty of opportunities await if you choose to proceed and train as an instructor.

Work with us

Once you have successfully completed your training, you will be offered a chance to join our team of driving instructors. We are an established driving school in Essex, and a large portion of our new students come from word-of-mouth referrals from people who have used our services to pass their tests. If you do decide to work with us, you will have access to a large client base from the start, allowing you to start earning right away. It’s a great way to build your experience and really make the most of your new qualification.

Become a specialist instructor

Once you have been working as a driving instructor for a while, you may decide that it’s time for you to progress to a higher level in your career. There are many ways to achieve this, and one of them is by teaching students with disabilities. Teaching learners with additional needs – whether they are physical or mental – means that you will have to take an additional course and possibly add extra controls to your car. This will allow you to cater to a fast-growing demographic of learners, and mark yourself out as an instructor who can be trusted.

Teach in larger vehicles

Another step up is training those looking to drive passenger carrying vehicles, large goods vehicles (LGV) or emergency services vehicles. Again, this will require more training on your part, and you will have to have experience driving these kinds of vehicles before you go on to help people gain their own licences. Specialising in this field means that you can meet the growing demand from people looking to gain the licence they need to progress in their careers.

Train other driving instructors

You may also consider becoming an ORDIT-registered driving instructor trainer. After all, you know what it takes to become a great driving instructor! By joining the voluntary official register of driving instructor training (ORDIT), you can show that you meet all the necessary criteria to guide trainees to success. With more and more people choosing to become driving instructors, you will be able to bring your expertise to the table and help many of them into the industry!

Start your new career today

As you can see, there are many ways to progress once you have qualified as a driving instructor. There are many more other ways to do this – such as becoming a driving test examiner or even establishing your own driving school. There are so many paths to take, with each of them providing ample opportunity for success.

I was taught by Geoff for about 2 months and I went to my test and passed the first time with this company and I would highly recommend Geoff and the company ad he teaches really well, he ensures that you end up being a driver and not a learner and i felt that is a really respectable quality when it comes to a teacher. I could not say any bad experience and was extremely happy

For any one wanting to learn to drive but not sure who to go with I definitely recommend Nayland, with his great help I passed first time and in just over three months, the lessons were great I always looked forward to them as Michael is a lovely guy and very down to earth, and up for a laugh 🙂 but he is also very patient for any one who is nervous about driving. 🙂

Harriet Osborn Davies

I passed my test first time, I didn’t need to use any other instructor as Michael gave me all the advice I needed, down to earth, practical and easy to understand. While learning to drive can be stressful, Micheal made it so easy for me. I enjoyed learning and looked forward to the lessons as they were really enjoyable, if you want to learn to drive with someone that will make it enjoyable and practical Micheal is the guy! guy.

Before having Michael as a driving instructor I was with someone else! I was given his number through a recommendation, and his lessons gave me the confidence to pass my test! Michael has great prices and deals, to suit anyone! I have now been driving a year, and I have recommended many people to go with him and they have gone on to pass very fast! 🙂

Amy Cowlin
